Lakewood police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl who drowned in a hot tub this afternoon.
West Metro Fire and Lakewood Police responded just after 3:15 p.m. to the Telluride West Apartments at 322 Wright St. for a possible drowning, and found the young girl, who had been pulled out of a hot tub, said Cindy Matthews, a spokeswoman for West Metro Fire.
Fire crews transported her to St. Anthony’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.
The girl has been identified at Isatou Ceesay.
The young girl’s mother was running errands at the time, and left the young girl in the care of an adult babysitter.
The babysitter was watching three other children in the pool at the same time, said Ana Brun, Lakewood police spokeswoman.
It is unclear if the other three children are related to Ceesay.
The hot tub area in the apartment complex is behind a locked fence.
Lakewood Police are still interviewing witnesses and said they don’t know at this time if any charges will be filed.
