The last external tank for the space-shuttle fleet rolled out of NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility on Thursday in New Orleans.
Through nearly three decades of shuttle flights, Lockheed Martin Space Systems workers at Michoud built and delivered 134 external tanks.
It will be towed by water to Kennedy Space Center in Florida, then joined with twin solid rocket boosters and attached to the shuttle Endeavor for the last scheduled orbiter mission, set for Feb. 26.
