DENVER—The district attorney says two Denver police officers were justified in fatally shooting an armed suspect last month.
Police say officers Daniel Morehead and Michael Walsh were responding to a report of a man with a gun on June 28 when they confronted 36-year-old Arturo Enriquez. Police say the officers opened fire after Enriquez pointed a handgun in their direction.
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey says in a letter dated Thursday that no charges will be filed against the officers.
Morrissey says Morehead, who arrived first, kicked Enriquez to the ground when Enriquez advanced on him.
Morrissey says Enriquez then refused the two officers’ orders to show his hands and instead raised the handgun.
