KAMPALA, Uganda — Police announced Tuesday that they had found an explosives-laden vest at a popular nightclub, thwarting another potential bomb attack days after three deadly explosions ripped through crowds watching the World Cup championship game.

Authorities also said they had arrested at least six people, including foreigners, in connection with Sunday’s attacks, which left at least 76 people dead. Carried out through what officials called a widespread and sophisticated plot, the bombings raised concerns about the growing reach of the Somali militant group Al Shabab, which claimed responsibility for them as a form of retaliation against Ugandan troops in Somalia.
