Early this morning an Arapahoe County sheriff’s dog caught a suspect who had broken into a car.

At about 2 a.m. a call came in to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office of someone breaking into a car in the 3200 block of East Otero Circle, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to the scene and talked to a witness who reported that someone had been running through the complex in the 8200 block of South Fillmore Way.

One of the deputies sent a sheriff’s dog, Max, to look for the suspect. Max found a male teenager in some bushes and pulled him out.

Deputies took custody of the teenager and found items in the bushes that were later identified as stolen, the release said.

The stolen items were taken from several cars during the same night, Arapahoe Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.

The suspect was treated for a minor dog bite and turned over to his mother.

The suspect told deputies that he had broken into several cars and stolen things out of them.

He faces charges of first-degree criminal trespass and theft.
