CANBERRA, Australia — Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced a general election for Aug. 21.
She told reporters today that the election would allow voters to choose their prime minister. Her Labor Party elected her three weeks ago after dumping her predecessor, Kevin Rudd. ap polls point to Labor winning a second three-year term.
