A manslaughter charge has been filed in a July Fourth death in Broomfield that was initially investigated as a possible suicide.
Amber Lona, 19, was charged Friday with manslaughter. Lona turned herself in to Broomfield police and was later released on a felony summons.
Anthony Varra, 21, was found dead by officers at 5:37 p.m. July 4 in the 3000 block of West 134th Avenue.
Police believe Lona and Varra were looking at his handgun, which they thought was unloaded, when Lona pulled the trigger and shot Varra in the face.
