ASPEN, Colo.—A former Aspen police officer who admitted putting a videocamera in his stepdaughter’s shower but said he didn’t have sexual intentions has been cleared of the most serious charges against him.

An Aspen jury on Friday found 38-year-old Joseph Holman not guilty of sexual exploitation for putting the small camera in the girl’s shower. The jury instead convicted him of tampering with evidence and attempted invasion of privacy.

Holman testified Thursday that placed the camera to anger the unruly teen, not for his own sexual gratification. The girl, now 17, has moved to California. She testified against Holman but didn’t attend the verdict.

Holman is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 30.
