Getting your player ready...
Ian Stewart is working his way back into favor. After becoming a platoon player for much of June, Stewart is starting again against left-handed pitchers. Manager Jim Tracy is rewarding Stewart for his resurgence offensively. He has 10 hits in his last 36 at-bats, including a home run and a single in the past two games.
No go, CarGo.
Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez didn’t start Tuesday because of a swollen and bruised left index finger. He suffered the injury during his third at-bat Monday. He is expected to start today.
Who’s on first.
Since July 7, the first-base platoon of Jason Giambi, Brad Eldred and Brad Hawpe has gone 15-for-36 with nine RBIs.
