OCEANPORT, N.J. — Rachel Alexandra defeated six rivals Saturday in the $400,000 Lady’s Secret Stakes for fillies and mares at Monmouth Park. It was the second straight win for the reigning horse of the year following two losses to start the season.

Calvin Borel was aboard as Rachel Alexandra beat Queen Martha by three lengths. Queen Martha set the pace with Rachel Alexandra tracking in second. They hooked up on the final turn, with Rachel Alexandra taking charge at the top of the lane before pulling clear in the deep stretch.

Mercury remains on a roll

MINNEAPOLIS — Diana Taurasi scored 11 of her 31 points in the second overtime as the Phoenix Mercury set a WNBA scoring record with a 127-124 victory over the Minnesota Lynx.

Phoenix, which topped 90 points for the seventh straight game, eclipsed the high it set in a 123-91 victory at Tulsa on Thursday.

Fish, Isner meet in Atlanta final

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Mardy Fish extended his personal-best winning streak to nine matches with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 upset of Andy Roddick, the No. 9 player in the world, in the Atlanta Tennis Championships.

Fish, who has not lost a set in the tournament, will face John Isner in today’s final. Isner beat Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3.
