Rangers at Rocky Mountain National Park found a body Sunday afternoon near Finch Lake Trailhead.

Around 8:15 a.m., park rangers were notified that a 40-year-old man from Colorado had planned to ski in the backcountry near the lake on Saturday but had not returned.

When rangers went to look for the man, they found his car in the morning, and about 4 p.m., they found the body above Cony Lake in the Hutcheson Lakes drainage near the southern boundary of the park.

The cause of death was unknown.

The man’s body was roughly 10 miles from the nearest trailhead.

Rescue teams were waiting to recover the body until today because of weather conditions.
