Getting your player ready...

In his pregame discussions, manager Jim Tracy said one of the Rockies’ priorities was to get Brad Hawpe going again. Hawpe answered the call with a home run to left field in the fifth inning for the Rockies’ first run. He also doubled in the ninth. It was his sixth homer of the season and first since May 20. Five of his six homers have come at Coors Field. He’s hitting .198 in 101 at-bats on the road.

Fowler fading.

After grounding out three times and walking, center fielder Dexter Fowler is 3-for-42 (.071) with two doubles in his last 12 games with an at-bat.

Power surge.

Hawpe’s homer against the Pirates during the fifth inning was followed by a home run to left field by Clint Barmes. It was the fourth time this season the Rockies hit back-to-back homers.
