PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Singer Wyclef Jean stepped down as leader of Yele Haiti, the aid group he founded, and formally declared his candidacy for the Haitian presidency Thursday.
Jean said that if he is elected Nov. 28, he will reduce the nation’s dependence on imports and help it recover from the earthquake.
