While the well-funded Senate campaigns pushed toward Tuesday’s finish line, the GOP candidates for governor had much lower-key campaign weekends.

Neither candidate held large rallies or planned barnstorming tours.

Evergreen businessman Dan Maes participated in the Douglas County Fair Parade in Castle Rock on Saturday and was scheduled to be at the Yuma County Fair on Sunday afternoon.

Former Congressman Scott McInnis, meanwhile, visited fairs in Craig and Meeker on Saturday and had a small meeting with supporters in Grand Junction planned for Sunday.

The winner of the Tuesday primary would face Democrat John Hickenlooper and former Republican Tom Tancredo, running as an American Constitution Party candidate, in the November general election.
