CHICAGO — Former White House social secretary Desiree Rogers, left, who resigned months after an uninvited couple crashed the Obama administration’s first state dinner, was named Tuesday as chief executive at Johnson Publishing Co. in Chicago. The largest black-owned publisher puts out Ebony and Jet magazines.
“Desiree has a proven track record of successful business leadership,” said Johnson Publishing chairwoman Linda Johnson Rice, who will step down as CEO. “She is a long-standing confidant and a savvy businesswoman.”
Rogers, 51, a New Orleans native, has been director of the Illinois Lottery and president of Peoples Gas and North Shores Gas.
