The department advised anyone who comes in contact with the man claiming to be a truancy officer to notify local police immediately.

He approached the young woman near West 64th Avenue and Simms Street on Aug. 12 as she was leaving a business, police said.

“He asked to see the woman’s identification and later asked her what she was doing out of school,” Arvada police said in a media release.

He returned her identification and drove away in a white sport-utility vehicle with a magnetic sign on the door that said “Jeffco School Safety.” according to police.

He was described as white, between 60 and 65 years old, with “salt-and-pepper” hair.
