Investigators have confirmed the identity of a woman’s body found in a pond near Littleton Tuesday, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has not released her name or other information.
No foul play is suspected, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
The body was found by divers after a person walking around the pond in Wingate Park found an abandoned purse and cell phone on the bank of the 4-acre pond, which is part of Massey Draw drainage west of Wadsworth Boulevard and north of C-470.
The items belonged to a 24-year-old woman who lives in the area.
Mark Techmeyer, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, said he could not name the victim, citing the coroner’s authority who is withholding the name while all her family members are notified.
“But the 24-year-old whose purse and phone were found, we’re not looking for her anymore,” he said.
