Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will receive the Josef Korbel Outstanding Alumni Award this Friday from the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies.
Rice will be presented the award by another former U.S. Secretary of state, Madeleine Albright, whose father, Josef Korbel, founded the school in 1964.
Rice also will give the keynote address at the event: the 2010 Korbel Dinner.
Introducing Albright will be Christopher Hill, the new dean of the Josef Korbel School. Hill just recently returned to the United States after serving a 16-month stint as the U.S. ambassador to Iraq.
During the dinner at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center, Leo Kiely, Chief Executive Officer of MillerCoors, will receive the 2010 University of Denver International Bridge Builders Award for his leadership in spearheading the joint venture between Coors Brewing Company and Miller Brewing Company. Also receiving the award is Kiely’s wife, the Rev. Susan Kiely. Susan Kiely is being recognized for her work as the founder of Women With A Cause, an international organization that encourages self-reliance and business skills for women around the world.
J. Landis Martin, founder and managing director of Platte River Ventures, chairman of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, vice chair of the Denver Art Museum and chairman emeritus of the Central City Opera House Association, will be honored with the Josef Korbel Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic contributions to the community.
