The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 south of Castle Rock were closed for three hours Saturday after a truck hit a woman standing in a traffic lane, killing her.
Colorado State Patrol spokesman Nate Reid said a 42-year-old Highlands Ranch woman parked her red Ford Explorer on the right shoulder of the interstate near Tomah Road about noon. They don’t know why she stopped her car or left it, or was in the traffic lane.
She was hit by a 2002 International box truck, although the driver attempted to swerve, Reid said. The truck driver’s name has not been released.
