
Fresh air, folky vibe
Monday. Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs becomes an end-of-summer outdoor-music haven as folk music icon Arlo Guthrie, best known for his quirky monologue-in-song “Alice’s Restaurant,” mounts a Labor Day concert benefitting the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, with Pueblo’s The Haunted Windchimes opening. Beer-garden and picnic supplies go on sale inside the Fine Arts Center, located at 30 W. Dale St. in Colorado Springs, starting at 5 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $32 online at or call the center’s box office at 719-634-5583.
Artful heroics
Friday. “Super Kids” is the the new exhibit opening in the gallery at Downtown Aurora Visual Arts, the nonprofit kids art organization, with a reception from 4-8 p.m. that includes a film screening at 6 p.m. The show spotlights works by young artists along with guest artists Katie Taft, Tracey Weil and Alicia Ordal.
