GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A second person has been sentenced for their role in an escape from the Mesa County Jail in 2008.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports 32-year-old Rodney Price was sentenced to eight years in prison for the Sept. 9, 2008, escape of Shane Johnson. Price earlier pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit escape.

Court records say Johnson used a hacksaw blade to cut through the ceiling of an exercise yard, then slid down an outside wall on bed sheets tied together.

Johnson’s wife, Marilynne Johnson, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit escape and was sentenced in January to six years in prison. Authorities say she was Johnson’s getaway driver.

Authorities say Price helped Johnson get the hacksaw blade, which Price denied.

Johnson remain in custody in Mexico.
