PALMER LAKE — The 12-year-old boy stabbed in the neck Tuesday afternoon at a school-bus stop in northern El Paso County has undergone surgery for a ruptured esophagus, The Gazette reports.

The boy is in serious but stable condition at Children’s Hospital in Denver.

He was stabbed Tuesday afternoon by another student in the alley next to Palmer Lake Elementary School, where the bus had dropped them off.

The alleged attacker, also 12, was taken to Spring Creek juvenile detention center on suspicion of attempted murder.
