Pete Rose went onto the field at Great American Ball Park for the first time since it opened in 2003, part of a celebration of his record hit. The Reds got Major League Baseball’s permission to have Rose on the field Saturday for the 25th anniversary of his record-setting hit No. 4,192 in 1985. Rose finished his career with 4,256 hits. He got a lifetime ban in 1989 for betting on baseball, including Reds games. His ban prohibits him from going on the field. The Reds showed highlights of Rose’s record chase on the videoboard. Rose was driven onto the field on a cart, walked over to first base and stomped on it.
