ATLANTA — Georgia coach Mark Richt said Sunday he must plan to be without A.J. Green for a third straight game, but he’s hoping the NCAA shortens the star receiver’s suspension this week.
The NCAA ruled last week that Green must sit out four games to regain his eligibility after selling a game jersey for $1,000. Green sold his jersey from last season’s Independence Bowl.
Richt said he hopes the NCAA will hear the Bulldogs’ appeal to shorten the suspension on Tuesday.
Richt said he’s not sure when the appeal will be heard, and he said “there’s no guarantee we’d get an answer the same day.”
Keenum is day to day
HOUSTON — Houston quarterback Case Keenum is listed as day to day after showing symptoms of a concussion after taking a blow to the head on Friday against UTEP.
Houston coach Kevin Sumlin said Keenum was “displaying symptoms of a mild concussion” on Friday. He added that his condition has “improved dramatically” since then.
Keenum was injured when he tried to make a tackle after throwing an interception in Houston’s 54-24 win over the Miners. No. 23 Houston plays at UCLA this week.
