Reliever Esmil Rogers saved face, if not the game, with a snow-cone grab of Kelly Johnson’s line drive in the sixth inning. Rogers, who fanned four in two innings, was a shortstop in the minor leagues.

Arizona’s Mark Reynolds earned an early exit in the top of the seventh, ejected for throwing his helmet and exchanging words with umpire Gerry Davis after striking out for the 192nd time this season.
