Seeyoulator Doppelbock by Boulevard Brewing Co. $7.98 per 750-milliliter bottle
Just down Interstate 70 east sits the highly regarded Boulevard Brewing Co. in Kansas City, Mo., cranking out fine brews since 1989. Its Smokestack series is its ultra- premium line, within which the cedar-aged Seeyoulator is its fall seasonal. Hazy orange-amber with a light-tan head and a medium body, it’s all about caramel malt and bread on the nose, with a slip of banana. Its well-balanced flavor profile begins with the caramel, light banana and a bit of spice, then warms, rather than bites, into a dreamy hop finish. A bit of warmth from the alcohol (8.5 percent by volume) on the way down. A great autumn beer.Keep an eye out for Boulevard’s 21st anniversary Fresh Hop Pale Ale, which was just bottled Friday and should be hitting shelves any day.
