Federal prosecutors will attempt to deny bail to a Children’s Hospital physician named in a 655-count prescription- fraud indictment.
Dr. Louis C. Hampers, who was the head of the emergency department at Children’s before taking sick leave in April in the midst of a federal investigation, appeared in a Colorado courtroom for the first time Thursday. Hampers, 44, was indicted on charges that he obtained 654 fraudulent prescriptions for pain, sleeping and anxiety drugs.
