DENVER—Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter is heading to Denmark and Finland this week to promote Colorado clean-tech companies.

Among his destinations is the world headquarters of Vestas Wind Systems in Finland.

Vestas is building four production plants in Colorado that will employ a total 2,500 workers.

Ritter plans to meet with European and Nordic companies interested in investing and expanding into the United States, while also promoting and building relationships for existing Colorado clean-tech companies.

A spokesman for Ritter says the trip for the governor and three other state officials will cost $13,500. State funds will pay Ritter’s way and a combination of state, federal and private money will cover the rest.
