Getting your player ready...

It was a home run swing and a home run pitch. But, in a snapshot of how things have been going for the Rockies, Carlos Gonzalez fouled it off. The thigh-high fastball from Trever Miller came with the bases loaded in the eighth and provided the strongest indication yet that CarGo’s right hand is hurting. Afterward, Rockies manager Jim Tracy confirmed that Gonzalez, who had a cortisone shot a month ago, had swelling and pain in his hand, likely ending his season.

Extra, extra.

For the second straight night, Dexter Fowler had the Rockies’ lone extra-base hit, doubling off Jake Westbrook with Seth Smith on first to give the Rockies life in the eighth. He also singled in the sixth, giving him eight multihit games on the road since the all-star break, five more than he had in the first half.

Hat trick for Helton.

Todd Helton struck out three times, giving him 90 in 394 at-bats, one every 4.37 at-bats. He struck out 73 times in 544 at-bats last season, one every 7.45 at-bats.
