A wrong-way driver on East Thornton Parkway collided head-on with a motorcycle early this morning, killing the driver.
Thorton Police responded to the accident on the 3200 block of East Thornton Parkway just after midnight.
Witnesses told police that a Nissan Exterra was driving west on the eastbound lanes of the road, and collided head on with a motorcycle on the inside lane, according to a release from Thorton police.
Joshua Raymond Wittig, 18, the driver of the Exterra, was arrested following the accident and is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
Police found drug paraphernalia in his vehicle, with what they believe to be marijuana residue.
The driver was identified as John Page Hines, 33, of Thorton. Hines was not wearing a helmet, said Matt Barnes, a spokesman for Thorton police.
Formal charges for Wittig are pending, and awaiting results of toxicology tests.
