BEREA, Ohio — Jake Delhomme’s ankle still looks a little shaky. His playing status for Sunday’s game against the Bengals is uncertain too.
Cleveland’s starting quarterback, who missed the past two games with a badly sprained right ankle, practiced for the second straight day Friday, but it’s still not certain if he’ll play Sunday.
Coach Eric Mangini will wait to see how Delhomme’s ankle responds after a second practice and treatment before deciding upon a starter.
“It’s just really how he does (Friday), how it responds (today) and then we do have another 24 hours between Saturday and Sunday to see what it’s like,” Mangini said before practice. “You want to give it as much time as you can.”
Revis remains out
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis participated in individual drills for the first time since injuring his left hamstring nearly two weeks ago, but will not play in Sunday’s game at Buffalo.
“That was encouraging today,” coach Rex Ryan said. “He was doing some individual work (Friday). He looks so good out there, you’re tempted to just let him go, but we’re going to wait. He never did anything as far as team practices or team reps. We’re going to make sure he’s back and close to 100 percent before we put him out there.”
Footnotes.
Giants defensive lineman Mathias Kiwanuka, who has a team-high four sacks and 11 tackles, will be sidelined indefinitely with a bulging disc in his neck.
• Neither right guard Trai Essex (ankle) nor backup nose tackle Chris Hoke (knee) practiced for the third day in a row and both were ruled out of Pittsburgh’s game Sunday against Baltimore.
• The availability of Rams running back Steven Jackson (groin) and safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (thigh) against Seattle will be a game-day decision.
• Bills starting cornerback Terrence McGee likely won’t play against the Jets because of a knee injury.
• The Seahawks placed linebacker Leroy Hill on injured reserve, ending his season because of an injured right Achilles tendon.
• Redskins punter Josh Bidwell is back after a scary pop in his right hip during pregame warm-ups kept him out of last week’s game.
• Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder is sidelined again, a setback in his attempt to recover from a groin injury that has kept him out all season.
• The Bears ruled out left tackle Chris Williams and safety Major Wright for the second straight game because of hamstring injuries.
• Starting 49ers strong safety Michael Lewis did not attend practice before the team traveled to Atlanta to play the Falcons on Sunday — an absence coach Mike Singletary said was for personal reasons. Singletary added he wasn’t sure whether Lewis would rejoin the team for the game.
