FRISCO, Colo.—A dusting of snow in Colorado’s high country has at least one ski area cranking up its snowmaking equipment.
About 1.5 inches of snow fell Thursday night on Loveland Pass about 50 miles west of Denver. National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kalina tells The Denver Post that it’s the first real amount of snow over this pass this season.
The Loveland Ski Area is cranking up the snowmaking equipment to take advantage of the colder weather. The ski area started making snow in September, but turned off the machines when the weather warmed up.
Last year, Loveland was the first ski area in North America to open when it started its chairlifts Oct. 7.
