LITTLETON — Noah Burkin supplied the big play on defense in overtime, and Cameron McDondle followed with his fourth touchdown run as third-ranked Columbine survived a scare from Heritage with a 27-21 victory Friday night at Littleton Public Schools Stadium.

Burkin’s third-down interception of Eagles quarterback Ryan Novak stymied Heritage’s opening possession in overtime.

McDondle, who rushed for 203 yards on 30 carries, then scored from 10 yards out on the Rebels’ ensuing play, sending Columbine to 6-0 overall and 2-0 to remain in a three-way tie for first place with Mullen and Arapahoe in the Big 6 League.

Columbine tied the game at 21-21 on McDondle’s 55-yard scoring run with 5:25 left in regulation.

Caesar Lopez added 47 yards on three carries, and Noah Thompson had 33 yards on five carries for the Rebels. Heritage fell to 1-5 and 0-2.

Fountain-Fort Carson 39, Doherty 0

COLORADO SPRINGS — Three big scoring plays provided life for the Trojans, who had dropped out of the top 10 in Class 5A after back-to-back losses. Kevin Parks had a 62-yard punt return, and Chris Davis (60 yards) and Charles Jones (46) broke long scoring runs for Fountain-Fort Carson (4-2, 1-0 Colorado Springs Metro League.

Fossil Ridge 15, Mountain Range 12

WESTMINSTER — Fossil Ridge had a 69-yard touchdown pass called back on its first play from scrimmage. It fumbled away one possession, got the ball back a play later on an interception — then promptly threw a pick of its own.

The Sabercats had a bad snap on a punt. They fumbled on the 3-yard line, threw an interception in the end zone, and had a field goal blocked. And yet Fossil Ridge walked away with an improbable win.

Greeley West 33, Greeley Central 18

GREELEY — Spartans sophomore David Eddy ran for 173 yards, and West picked off three passes to beat their crosstown rivals in a Class 4A Northern Conference matchup.
