LARAMIE — Wyoming will be without starting quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels today when they play No. 5 TCU.
The sophomore was diagnosed early this week with an undisclosed injury that did not improve. He did not travel to Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday with the Cowboys (2-3).
Senior Dax Crum will start in Carta-Samuels’ absence. Crum has started five games in his career, all in 2008. He has played in two games this season, against Texas and Boise State, and is 4-of-7 for 39 yards.
Oklahoma State 54, Louisiana-Lafayette 28
LAFAYETTE, La. — Brandon Weeden threw five touchdowns passes, three of which ignited a second-half rally that boosted the No. 22 Cowboys past the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Weeden hit Michael Harrison for a 24-yard score and Hubert Anylam for a 22-yard touchdown in the first nine minutes of the third quarter as the Cowboys (5-0) scored 24 points in the third quarter to take the lead for good.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (2-3) had taken a 21-17 halftime lead on two touchdown passes by Chris Masson in the final 4:35, but Oklahoma State scored seven plays into the second half on Kendall Hunter’s 1-yard run.
Nebraska to expand stadium
LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska unveiled a $56 million Memorial Stadium expansion plan that would boost capacity to about 90,000 people and keep it competitive with Big Ten crowds accustomed to massive facilities at Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan.
Memorial Stadium’s current capacity is 81,067, while stadiums at those other universities all seat more than 100,000.
“You don’t have to keep up with the Joneses all the time, but you at least have to be in the league,” Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne said.
The proposed expansion, which will go before university regents Friday, will add about 5,000 seats to the east end of the 87-year-old Memorial Stadium, including more than 30 luxury boxes with indoor and outdoor seating for 400 to 500. Between 2,000 and 2,200 seats would be in a new covered and heated section.
The university also unveiled plans to spend $4.75 million on an indoor practice facility for its baseball and softball teams.
