Getting your player ready...

The skinny: Brett Favre throwing to Randy Moss? That should lure more than a few eyeballs. If Moss is interested in what the Vikings are up to, he certainly has enough left in the tank to influence the NFC North race.

Defenses continually pushed their coverage Moss’ way in the Patriots’ offense, even in his final games with the team when it was clear Moss was becoming disenchanted with the way things were going. He didn’t have a catch in his last game with New England.

And a Minnesota offense that ranks 29th in the 32-team NFL is on the way up.

The difference will be: If the Jets can contain Moss on a high-profile stage where the Vikings will try to get him the ball a lot. In three full seasons with New England, Moss had just one 100-yard receiving game against the Jets in six meetings. In four of those games, Moss didn’t finish with 40 yards receiving.

But Moss, who has career totals of 935 re- ceptions for 14,604 yards and 151 touchdowns, pulls safeties away from the line of scrimmage — and tailbacks such as Minnesota star Adrian Peterson like to see that. Peterson leads the NFC in rushing with 392 yards and is the Vikings’ leader in receptions as well.

The call: Jets 34-31.
