The Air Force hockey team blew a 2-0 lead Sunday and remained winless after a 3-2 loss to Robert Morris in Pittsburgh.
The Falcons got on the scoreboard first as sophomore defenseman Mike Walsh scored his first career goal at 6:09 of the first period. Walsh took a rebound of Jacques Lamoureux’s shot, scooted around a defenseman and shot the puck into the top of the net. Freshman George Michalke also scored his first career goal, at the 18:28 mark, and he also converted a rebound of a Lamoureux shot.
Robert Morris’ Chris Kushneriuk scored a goal at the 2:30 mark of the second period to tie the game 2-2, and Nathan Longpre netted the game-winner at 2:21 of the third period after picking up a puck that had hopped over the stick of an Air Force defenseman and firing a shot past Falcons goalie Jason Torf. The Falcons (0-3, 0-1 Atlantic Hockey) outshot Robert Morris (4-0, 3-0) 38-33, but were 0-for-4 on the power play, while Robert Morris went 1-for-3 with the man advantage. Torf had a career high with 30 saves.
“We are plenty good enough to lose games close all year,” AFA head coach Frank Serratore said. “It was a hard-fought game in the third period, and I thought the most determined was going to win this one. “
