Larimer County investigators said today they found the abandoned car of a man and woman who have been missing from their home east of Fort Collins since Oct. 12.

The four-door Buick LaSabre was found at a motel along Interstate 25 at Colorado Highway 119 in Weld County the day after officers found “suspicious circumstances” at the home to indicate Kathy Adams, 56, was abducted.

The Sheriff’s Department also is looking for her husband, John Marks, Jr., 47. Investigators have said only that Marks and Adams shared the home on Mulberry Lane. Her family has said they were husband and wife, and she had imminent plans to leave him.

Adams’ family has said they have not heard from her since Oct. 7.

Adams is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, 100 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes. Marks is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The Sheriff’s Department said today that nine of its investigators are working on the case, with the assistance of tracking dogs, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies.
