A man was shot several times early Friday in southeast Denver, and police have four people in custody.

The shooting happened about 1 a.m. in the 1500 block of South Albion Street, said John White, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

Police were called to the area on reports of a “disturbance or altercation,” White said, and when officers arrived they found the victim, who had been shot several times.

The victim was taken to Denver Health Medical Center in critical condition. Patrol officers later spotted a suspect vehicle and took four people into custody after a chase in which police bumped or clipped the rear of the fleeing vehicle to bring it to a stop.
