Nineteen-year-old Zachariah Santaguida pleaded guilty today in First Judicial District Court in Jefferson County to killing his older sister and faces up to 85 years in prison when he is sentenced in January.

Elizabeth “Libby” Santaguida, 24, was strangled to death with a shoelace and found dead in the family’s Evergreen home.

She was found at the bottom of a spiral staircase with her pants pulled partially down, according to an arrest affidavit.

He initially faced first-degree murder charges, but pleaded to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping charges.
