FORT COLLINS — A trial has been set for a 16-year-old boy accused of kicking a rock off a cliff, killing a Michigan girl who was downhill.

Freddie Henderson Bailey III of Katy, Texas, pleaded not guilty Friday to manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Audra Brownell of Sparta, Mich., in June. His trial is scheduled to start Feb. 1.

Authorities say a rock Bailey kicked fell 30 feet from a cliff in an open space in Estes Park and struck Brownell. If Bailey is convicted, the maximum sentence would be two years in a juvenile facility.
