LOVELAND — A 21-point loss to Mountain View in September didn’t faze Windsor the second time around. The Wizards overcame five turnovers and 12 penalties Saturday and pulled off the biggest upset in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs, stunning the No. 3-seeded Golden Eagles 14-0 at Ray Patterson Stadium.
Banning Lobmeyer scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter and David Gadbois added a 34-yard TD run in the fourth for 14th-seeded Windsor, which lost 28-7 to Mountain View in the regular season.
“In our first game, we had five turnovers and it was 14-7 with six minutes left, so we knew we could play with them,” Windsor coach Chris Jones said.
The Wizards (8-3) made plenty of mistakes Saturday but stymied Mountain View (9-2) on offense throughout and secured the win with three interceptions late in the game.
