BOULDER — A 51-year-old man who apparently was living in a storage facility started a fire that spread to seven other units and shut down Arapahoe Avenue east of 63rd Street on Friday, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Donald Eib was using an open flame in one of the units at SecurCare Self Storage, 6338 Arapahoe Ave., where authorities said he was living. It’s not clear why he had a fire going in his unit.

Eib was ticketed on suspicion of fourth-degree arson, a misdemeanor.
