A Good Samaritan in Loveland and two veterinarians in Windsor saved a bobcat that had been hit by a car.

A male bobcat was discovered Monday night on the side of the road in Loveland injured and in shock after apparently being struck by a vehicle. The person who found the bobcat took him to the VCA Speciality Animal Hospital in Loveland.

VCA called Kathryn Touran, a veterinarian at Garden Valley Veterinary Hospital in Windsor with experience with wildlife.

Touran, 28, called in Ed Umlauf, an orthopedic surgeon who donated his time to help Touran fix the bobcat’s femur, or thigh bone.

Touran said the bobcat will stay at her home and at Garden Valley for the time being, and then be taken to Greenwood Rehabilitation Center in Longmont for his long-term recovery.
