Cam Newton, Auburn: In a Friday game, the star quarterback might have put himself in the driver’s seat for the Heisman as he rallied the Tigers from a 24-0 deficit to defeat archrival Alabama 28-27.
Kellen Moore, Boise State: In another Friday game, Moore’s Heisman hopes took a step back as Nevada rebounded from a 17-point halftime deficit to beat the visiting Broncos 34-31 in overtime.
LaMichael James, Oregon: The running back rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns for the Ducks, who beat visiting Arizona 48-29 after trailing 19-14 at halftime Friday night.
Andrew Luck, Stanford: The only Heisman contender who played Saturday, Luck threw four touchdown passes to set a single-season school record as Stanford stated its case for a berth in the Bowl Championship Series by blasting Oregon State 38-0.
Note: The 925 ballots were mailed to voters recently and are due back by Dec. 6. The televised announcement is Dec. 11.
