ILIFF, Colo.—Martin Waln scored two touchdowns, including the winner in overtime Saturday, and Hoehne capped a perfect season with a 14-8 victory over Caliche in the Class A 8-man state championship.

Waln scored on Hoehne’s first play in the extra session, running 10 yards for the TD, which gave the Farmers (13-0) their second state championship in school history, and the first since 1980.

Waln’s fourth-quarter score eventually forced overtime. Trailing 8-0, and facing a fourth-and-8 on the Caliche 10-yard line, Hoehne freshman quarterback Sawyer Schafer threw to Waln, who juggled and tipped the pass before making the catch between two defenders.

Caliche (11-2) had the ball first in overtime, but the Buffs lost several yards on their four offensive plays.
