Former Colorado great Eric Bieniemy will return to the school as its new offensive coordinator, he confirmed Saturday.
“Be there soon,” he wrote in a text to The Denver Post.
Bieniemy, currently the Minnesota Vikings running backs coach, also texted friends and reporters covering the team with the news. He plans to finish out the season with the Vikings, he texted, meaning he would be doing double duty, recruiting for CU while coaching with Minnesota for the next month.
Bieniemy, who was a finalist for the CU heading coaching position, spent the past two days mulling an offer to join Jon Embree’s staff. The former standout Buffs running back was an assistant coach at CU, along with Embree, under Gary Barnett.
“Congrats to my position coach Eric Bieniemy on accepting the offensive coordinator job at the University of Colorado! Well deserved, EB!,” tweeted Vikings running back Albert Young.
