AURORA, Colo.—Matt Biery ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns Saturday, and Elizabeth completed a perfect season with its first state football championship, a 29-6 victory over Glenwood Springs in the Class 3A title game.

Top-seeded Elizabeth (14-0), which never trailed, took a 15-6 lead on Biery’s 30-yard TD run with 8:57 to play in the first half. The senior running back, who also had three interceptions on defense, extended Elizabeth’s lead to 22-6 on the first play of the fourth quarter, another 30-yard scoring run.

Second-seeded Glenwood Springs (12-2), the 3A champ in 2008, scored on its first possession, capped by Drew Halsh’s 1-yard run that made it 8-6. Glenwood’s ensuing 2-point attempt failed.
