Independence Bowl officials announced Sunday that Georgia Tech is coming to their Dec. 27 game in Shreveport, La., to play the Air Force Falcons.
The Yellow Jackets are 6-6 and are coached by Paul Johnson. Johnson is familiar with the Falcons from his days at Navy before moving to Georgia Tech three years ago.
He was instrumental in Navy’s eight-year run at winning the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy in battles with Army and Air Force.
Air Force regained the trophy this year with victories over Navy and Army. Air Force last played Georgia Tech in 1979, losing 21-0 in Atlanta.
