A man suspected of robbing two downtown Denver banks early Tuesday was arrested after police spotted him in the bathroom of the Greyhound bus station at 19th and Curtis streets, according to Denver police.
The man was identified as Joe Peeples, 37, who police said is suspected in the recent robberies of at least four downtown banks.
The first robbery Tuesday occurred at First Bank, 1200 17th St., about 7:30 a.m.
About 9 a.m., a robber fitting the same description walked into Bank of Denver, 405 16th St., and demanded money.
A red dye pack exploded as the man fled the scene of one of the robberies.
Denver police spokesman Lt. Matt Murray said Denver police officers flooded the area and an undercover police officer spotted Peeples, who matched the description of the robber.
