LARAMIE — Desmar Jackson scored 16 points and Wyoming used a 32-13 rebound advantage to defeat Denver 61-48 on Tuesday night.

Amath M’Baye had 11 points and a career-best nine rebounds for the Cowboys (4-6), while JayDee Luster and Djibril Thiam added 10 points each.

Travis Hallam scored a career-high 17 points to pace the Pioneers (2-9), and Chase Hallam added 11.

M’Baye scored nine points in the first half to help Wyoming take a 24-16 lead at the break.

Denver pulled within 26-22 on a 3-pointer by Andrew Hooper before Luster’s free throw with 15:07 left pushed the ‘Pokes’ lead to 32-22.

Women

Denver 56, N. Colorado 45

Quincey Noonan scored 17 points, including a key layup midway through the second half that gave the Pioneers a 48-38 lead, to lead DU at Magness Arena.

After trailing 28-25 at halftime, the Bears (3-8) battled back to take a 38-36 lead. DU (7-4) scored the next 12 points. Noonan and Katelyn Murdoch each scored five points in the run. Murdoch finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Victoria Timm scored 14 points off the bench for the Bears, and Lauren Oosdyke added 13 points and eight rebounds. Timm also had seven steals.
